Funny Faces

My sister asked me to scrapbook these pictures of her family before Christmas.  I've finally gotten to this project ... I really wanted to scrapbook today and while I was thinking about the story I wanted to record, I remembered my promise to her.  So Kara, this one's for you ... Funny Faces (please forgive me for taking so long!)

mom - ee

Wow ... I took a moment this afternoon to do some scrapbooking. It feels good to do something relaxing for me. The boys watched 101 Dalmations and Livie had a nap. Back to my focus ... being a homemaker and a JOYFUL mother of children =)

Nocturnal

Another scrapbook layout ... I'm excited to be documenting the stories of our lives again ... with creativity and with love. Hooray!

Design Inspired by Ronda Palazari
Digi Elements: K. Pertiet, A. Victoria, Patti Knox, CD Muckowski, Lisa Sisneros, Kasia Designs
Journaling:
Joel studied owls at school this month. They read Jan Brett’s book The Mitten, and each student was put on a team to study one of the animals in the book. They gave us a presentation (Grandma, Josh, Olivia and I came) and we got to learn about the animals too. It was great to see Joel in action at school! A few nights later Joel told me he wanted to try and stay up all night. “I want to be nocturnal because I was on team owl, and owl’s are nocturnal.” Go to bed Joel! March 2011

Welcome Spring

Yesterday I was wanting to do something crafty, and Olivia was wanting to be held ... so I made this scrapbook page (I'm able to snuggle with my left arm and use my right to click on the mouse).

Journaling reads:
We are excited because the snow is melting.
Then we are disappointed because it snows again.
Mr Sun, please shine so we can get out in our new rubber boots and have fun!
Livie sure likes stomping around in this weather! April 2011

Inspired by this layout I saw on flickr.

Rainbow Challenge

My friend Corey put out a challenge on her blog to capture rainbows with our kids. This is what Joel and I came up with! I've also been really wanting to do some scrapbooking so I thought this challenge would be a perfect way to jump back into it!

Thought I'd also post about what the rainbow symbolizes - so thankful for God and his promises!

Then God said, “I am giving you a sign of my covenant with you and with all living creatures, for all generations to come. I have placed my rainbow in the clouds. It is the sign of my covenant with you and with all the earth. When I send clouds over the earth, the rainbow will appear in the clouds, and I will remember my covenant with you and with all living creatures. Never again will the floodwaters destroy all life. Genesis 9:12-15

I spy and some art ...

some food. These pears are now pear sauce for Josh ... he loves them! The next layout is a lift of the famous Jude over at Unpubbed ... join us in lifting her for a prize! (The belly belongs to my sister ... we are so excited to meet her little person later this month)!

Another layout for Unpubbed:

I spy and some art ...

something yellow. This beautiful flower is growing in my garden!

some friends. Joel and his friends ... so much fun!

some hands. Josh is so interested in those hands - looking at them, sucking on them, grasping with them!

I made this layout for my Jessica Sprague class today - a favorite memory from yesterday at the zoo! We had such a great time - both of the Grandma's came and we wanderered around the zoo enjoying the animals and watching Joel discover and learn. Today was also a great day! My Mom watched the boys (and made supper) while I played ... I got to catch up on some of my favorite blogs, I cleaned up my office, and I got to do some scrapping! Hooray!

something hot

This is my layout for Unpubbed last week:

And my layout for SALT -- our challenge was to create art about being patient. Love the verse that says: "... imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised." Hebrews 6:11-15

Saturday Gratitude

1. That both of my boys are asleep RIGHT now. It was quite a battle to get Joel to go to bed ... with Josh screaming in the background ... but I prayed for wisdom and got it ... put Josh in his swing and let him watch a Baby Einstein and I rocked Joel to sleep. Josh got fed and is now napping ... hooray!
2. Barbeques with friends! So glad Nick and Cara could come over for a visit with their boys. Good times!
3. Auntie Rhonda and Uncle Bob came to visit on tuesday. A lovely day to just hang out!
4. New starts ... I had a date with Billy Blanks (and his bootcamp) yesterday - my first real attempt at exercise since Josh came ... we also went for a LOOOOOONG walk with our new stroller ... it was good and fun and today I'm stiff and sore. Back at it on Monday!
5. For telephones ... I think I talk to my Mom almost everyday.
6. For scrapbooking. My one little indulgence that helps make me me. (See below for some stuff I've worked on this week).
7. For my husband. He was gone on a golfing trip this week ... it's so nice to have him home.
8. For flowers in pots and my garden. There is just something about growing things that makes me happy. My grandma had quite a green thumb ... maybe I get it from her!
9. For summer. I LOVE summer! My favorite time of the year ... the heat, being outside, the sun, camping ... I so want to go camping!
10. God's word. So thankful for my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Garden Update ...

So I believe the last garden report's growth will end up getting pulled ( I think it's a weed, but we'll give it the benefit of the doubt for a few more days). BUT,

I know that this is a BEAN!!!!! Yippeeee! Growing a garden is quite fun ... we check it every day!

Here are some layouts from this week:

Off to go watch SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE! I love this show ... already hooked!

I got my mojo back! Woohoo! For the past few weeks I've been just taking pictures, enjoying the warm weather and my boys and I haven't felt like I had any stories I needed or wanted to tell ... I felt kinda flat - but my creative juices are running again ... Ali Edwards says there are cycles ... I just like the creative making stuff part of the cycle (but the living the stories, taking pictures and having fun is good too!)

Here is my layout for Unpubbed this week (lifting Nicole):

Today ...

We had a lovely day today ... had a nap on the couch snuggled with Joel (while Josh slept in his crib), went for a walk around the block and picked up the mail, and had a really nice visit with my Aussie neighbour! Joel hung out at their house and watched Backyardigans with their son while I cooked supper. This was the first time Joel has ever done that ... spent time at the neighbour's without me ... it was strange but good. He's growing up and getting a little more independent. It's nice when he has those little independent moments that he still climbs on my lap and says "I do love you Mommy".

Here's my layouts for Unpubbed and Salt this week:

National Scrapbooking Day

Well, this weekend when I wasn't busy being a mama ... I was scrapping (although that's generally what I do =)!
These are the layouts (and a mini) that I created this weekend for National Scrapbooking Day! I had lots of fun doing some of the challenges that the design team came up with at Memorable Seasons.

1. Use your stash challenge ... challenged to use "old" product. Love this picture of Grandpa on Christmas morning showing Joel how to ride his horse!

2. Square challenge ... to use a shape and stick to it in the challenge. I totally lifted Ali Edwards from the May Creating Keepsakes magazine.

3. Use your scraps challenge ... in this challenge I built a note book for my desk to put all my ideas that I glean from the computer and magazines for scrapbooking ... that way Matt will have the clean desk he's always dreamed of (maybe).

4. Early Bird challenge at SIS ... to use birds on a page. Perfect for this picture!

5. Logo challenge ... to create a layout based on the logo from Memorable Seasons.

6. Sketch challenge ... based this layout on a sketch from Danielle and the color scheme (red, orange, green, black and white).

something expensive. Wow ... are diapers ever expensive ... and now we're buying for two boys!

and something recycled. This is my spot for recycle stuff waiting to go out in the box to be picked up on friday! So glad our city recycles!

This is my layout inspiration coming from Lotus Paperie challenge #68

Weekend Creativity

This weekend ... we went and saw Horton Hears a Who (and by we I mean the whole family ... so awesome to have a family outing), I worked on this mini album inspired by Cathy Pascual on SIS and we went to Grandma and Grandpa's for supper last night (delicious - and Grandpa got this sweet pic of Josh).

The More We Get Together ...

Last summer we went to a family reunion (Matt's Grandma's family) in Saskatchewan. I have had making a mini album for the event on my list ever since I got my pictures back ... I finally created it this week!
