Joshua was 2 weeks old yesterday - it's been a blur. He was put on restricted duties yesterday (only one bottle or breast feed per day- and the rest of his food coming by tube into his tummy) due to some breathing issues that are normal for preemies who are doing a little too much. So yesterday was a resting day and he tried to breast feed twice but was just too tired.
Today was also a resting day. I went and saw my family Dr. for a checkup and some lab work to see if we can figure out why the heck I had a preemie baby. We'll see. Joshua is now 4lb 7oz and lost his umbilical cord today. He's growing - woo hoo! Joshua and I had some good cuddles today - kangaroo care (skin to skin) is delightful and so relaxing for me and him. I didn't even try to feed him this afternoon because he's usually more alert at night. But, I was very excited because his nurse called me back to the hospital because Joshua wanted to eat at about 5:30 this evening. I got there and he did so well! Yippee. I'm going to bed early tonight - Joel hasn't slept well since Josh was born (I'm attributing it to my being gone all day every day.) He's such a sweetie - on Sunday my Mom and I went to visit Joshua in the hospital and Joel was watching out the window and asked his Dad "Where are my ladies going?" I'm so glad to be one of his "ladies"!
PS. To Grandma and Grandpa in Hawai - we miss you so much (but are glad you are enjoying some nice hot weather because it is colder than cold here (-30 plus the wind chill). We love you and can't wait till you're home!
