So thankful ...

A couple of weeks ago my old battered piano moved out of our house and a beautiful fully functioning piano moved in ... thanks to my wonderful mother in law. I am so enjoying playing it ... every spare moment (when no one is sleeping). It's funny, I started playing piano when I was four years old. My neighbour Mrs. Hammel had the softest hands and would help me press the keys as she taught me ... she was like a Grandma to me. I took lessons until I was in Grade 12 because my Mom made me. I was a terrible practicer and so I never really excelled ... but as my Mom reminded me ... "someday you will thank me for this." This is the someday if you are reading this Mom! Thank you. I have had opportunities to play on music teams at church and just the fact that I can sit down and play a song on my piano gives me joy. Music is a good thing (and yes, my boys are going to take lessons ...)

So thankful for the return of fall! The snow has all melted and now we are enjoying fall again (rainy cool weather ... but at least it's not snow.) And no, I haven't started decorating for Christmas ... but I'm certainly thinking about it and making plans to get my shopping done soon so that I can relax and take it easy during the busy season ... I am going to be very close to having this baby in December!

I have many things on my list to do before this baby comes. I should actually write that list down and start crossing things off ... this morning though I just had a nap on the couch while the kids played and watched kids shows (I've been pushing myself a little too hard lately and so I decided to rest this morning.)

I love that you're playing the piano! I took lots of lessons when I was growing up, and like you I never practiced much and my mother said the exact same thing to me! LOL! I am so very thankful for it though. Have fun taking it easy Kim! :)

Sean is our resident piano player. The kids love to play around, but no lessons yet. I figure Sean can teach them, so why pay for lessons? Then again, they'd probably learn more/better from a stranger.

Moms really do know everything. I wish I had listened to mine about the piano. :)

I love it when my mother is right...which is most of the time.

I can't wait to have a house big enough for a piano...one could fit in out basement but if we got it down there I have no idea how we'd get it back up!!! LOL

I play the piano for years....I went a convent school and I have a nun teach me for years. She used to hit us over the fingers with a ruler when we played a wrong note! It sure helped you remember the RIGHT note!!! LOL

Enjoy!

I have always wanted to play the piano, but our family could never afford to purchase a piano or provide lessons.

So of course my daughters will be exploring piano. Amanda has played for the last two years, and I have been practicing alongside her.

Music is such a gift....
