Thoughts.

I am home.
I found this quote today:
"May God's love heal your sorrow, and His peace replace your heartache with warm and loving memories" -Unknown-
I am very tired but wanted to write down my thoughts from this weekend.

I went to my Grandpa's funeral this weekend. The church was absolutely packed with people ... most of whom I don't know. My Grandpa was a wonderful man. A man of faith. A man who told his pastor once that "I had a conversion experience and I've never gotten over it." You could tell. He lived his whole life for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. And on Saturday we celebrated that life. I thought I wouldn't cry. Because I am so happy for him to be finished his race and in heaven with Jesus and Grandma .... but I did cry. I cried for my Mom - who was so strong and helped Grandpa finish the last of his days with dignity. I cried because my kids won't know this amazing man. I cried because I won't get to see him until my race is done. I hope that one day people can say that they saw Jesus because of how I live my life.

I'm going to end this with my Grandpa's favorite psalm. Psalm 121.

I lift my eyes to the hills-
where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord,
The Maker of heaven and earth.

He will not let your foot slip -
He who watches over you will not slumber;
indead He who watches over Israel
will neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord watches over you -
The Lord is yor shade at your right hand;
the sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon by night.

The Lord will keep you from all harm -
He will watch over your life;
the Lord will watch over your coming and going
both now and forevermore.

It's great when we get to celebrate one's life. Wish we didn't wait until they were gone to do so.
When my Dad passed away, I was amazed at the number of lives that he had touched in one way or another. The church was filled with people who just had a great story to tell about him. It was comforting.
COntinue to find comfort with each passing day. And, celebrate his wonderful life!

Your Grandpa was obviously a very special man of God. Cherish the special memories you have and find comfort in knowing that he lived his life for his Lord and is now with him.
